12 Months = A Year?!

I know you've heard every parent say it, but I can't believe my little angel is ONE YEAR OLD!  Seem like only yesterday we were having her gender reveal party!  Time sure does fly.

Her morning started with chocolate chip waffles.

Pasadena

In 2010, when Auburn had that AMAZING season and went to AZ to play in the National Championship, I hesitated and missed my opportunity to go to the game.  (I know Kellye....I know!)  Back then I had enough miles to fly for free.  I even had a free place to stay with Drew's Aunt.  I just didn't want to pay out the nose for tickets.  And I missed out.  A regret I will live with for the rest of my life.  So, when the miracle season happened, I was bound and determined to go to Pasadena whatever the cost!  Things worked out in our favor and so we (Drew and I, with my sister and Kellye) went.    And even though we didn't win, it was an amazing trip and I have never been more proud of my Auburn Tigers!

It became really REAL when we had actual tickets in hand!
Drew sporting his lanyard that held our tickets.  We're ready to go!
We got out there a couple of days early to see some sights.  One of our first stops was Santa Monica.  On our way to the pier, we witnessed a real flash mob. (It was awesome!)  This one ended in a proposal.  How sweet!

On the pier, I ran into Mike and Jana Monday, from my hometown!
Aubrey and I at the "end of the trail."
You know I can't go to a new place without doing a little bakery hopping.  We met a friend of Drew's from Auburn at Huckleberry.  This was on my list because I had seen this shop on "Unique Sweets."  It looks just like it did on tv.  :)
I had to try their famous huckleberry cornmeal cake.  It did not disappoint.
I also tried this yummy egg and cheese sandwich. (A little fancier than what I make every morning.)
The next day we went down to Hermosa Beach to visit with my good friend, Daniel...whom I had not seen in 7 years!  He left us and moved to CA after graduation.  He has a rough life living RIGHT on the beach.
That white house on the right is his.
The beach was gorgeous and the town was charming.

Aubrey wasn't too sure about walking in the sand.
Trace liked to eat it!

Aubrey had a chill break in the grass.

That night Kellye and I attended the Auburn Party downtown L.A. with Jonah and Skye.

I loved these white lights.  They changed colors and moved up and down.
Game Day!

Hehehe!
We were herded into the Rose Bowl like cattle.  I was a little claustrophobic!

The views from inside were fantastic!
Our friends from church got our tickets, so we had the pleasure of sitting in a section of football letterman from year's past.  We couldn't have had a better section!
Even after we lost, we had smiles on our faces.  We had an amazing journey to make it to the Rose Bowl and our guys should be proud of themselves!
Our last day we had a chance to drive around and snap some pics from the car before we headed out of town.
One of these days I'm actually going to go INSIDE the observatory.
Finally saw the Hollywood sign.
And what's a trip to L.A. without driving by the place where all the magic happens?

All Things Christmas

We got home from Disney LATE on the 23rd, so we had to finish Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve.  Yes, we were those people!  Then we went to Christmas Eve services.

And you'll notice in the background that our tree is still not decorated! Shameful, I know.  Between Drew's birthday, our anniversary, Andrew's birthday party, all the choir festivities at church, and our trip to Disney there was just NO time!  The tree was up...it just wasn't decorated.   We got to that around midnight!

Christmas morning came early for these tired and weary souls.  Normally we have to go wake Andrew up, but when Aubrey started fussing I could hear Andrew.  He was already in the living room checking out the loot! (Hey!  The tree has ornaments on it...but I confess, only 1/2 of them!) lol
Drew's goodies.  Andrew picked out the tie at his school's Santa Shop all by himself.

We had a couple of hours to enjoy Santa's delivery before it was time to hop in the car and drive to Albertville for Christmas dinner at Granna and Paw-Paw's.

 Aubrey!  Be a lady!

After 3 Christmases in Albertville, we left on the 28th to head straight to MS.  We also got a new (to us) vehicle on this trip after looking for a year.  But the joke is: We had to get one or else all of our Christmas stuff wouldn't fit in our explorer, which was true!  We stopped in Birmingham to pick up Adam's girlfriend, Kristen so she could spend Christmas with the Ladner's too.  When we got to Grammy and Granddad's house, Nanny Laura came over to give the kids their presents.

And then after eating some yummy gumbo, we opened more presents!

The next day we went to City Park in New Orleans for "Celebration in the Oaks."  There are tons of beautiful lights.  City Park has the largest collection of live oaks in the world and they're all aglow at Christmas time.  The kids had fun playing in the Fairy Tale section.

Andrew wanted to ride rides, so he rode by himself and this stranger.

The best part of the night:  Adam proposed to Kristen!  I'll officially have a new sister-in-law on May 24!  Isn't she gorgeous?!
We had a whirlwind Christmas but that's part of it when you live away from home.  We wouldn't trade our time with our families for the world, though.

After Christmas it was rush rush rush back home.  We had 2 days before we left for Pasadena!
