These past few days have been so much fun watching Andrew walk all over the place. The first day, he held his hands up just like he did when he would hold onto our finger. But today, he has started putting his arms down a lot more. Sometimes he holds them on his belly. It's pretty cute. He has such good balance. (He should...afterall, he's technically been walking for several months!) He has only fallen down twice since he started walking.
I shot a short video clip of him walking outside today. He does really well on uneven terrain. He even conquered a hill today without falling! In this video he's chasing after his Paw-Paw. They love to hang out outside. Every morning around 6:45 a.m. he sees Paw-Paw putting on his work boots. He'll walk over and say "boot." Then he points to the door and says, " 'mon paw-paw." It's really cute!
Enjoy the video!

Andrew walking!
What a great day! Andrew finally took off on his own. Sure, he has been taking a few little steps here and there on his own for the past two months, but today he actually walked a LOT.
We were sitting in the chair reading books and he climbed down and walked all the was across the room to his toy box. A few minutes later he crawled back to me and sat for a little while. Next thing I know, he climbed down one more time, this time to take off and go on a journey! He walked all the way across the living room, back to me, and then made 2 trips around the dining room table before stopping at his John Deere tractor! He was so excited, saying "yay" and squealing with delight. He was very proud of himself and so was I. I was in tears and so caught up in the moment that I forgot to run and grab the video camera!! Maybe I'll catch him later.
Anyhoo...just wanted to share my excitement!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!
Andrew woke up to an Easter basket full of goodies. He was especially thrilled about the baseball and basketball shaped eggs. (And the chocolate bunny sucker of course).
Then we went to church all dressed up. After that we had our Easter lunch at Granddaddy's house. If any of you know where my grandparents live, you'll have an easier time picturing this story. As soon as we turned onto the dead end street where they live, Andrew piped in from the backseat, "Grandaddy!" He knew where we were going just turning onto the street! (By the way, he absolutely LOVES my Grandparents. It's funny how he already knows that he can get away with pretty much anything when he's over there. Now I know how my parents felt when we'd come home all spoiled rotten from being over there. But hey...I guess that's what Great-Grandparents are for.)
After lunch we all came home and took a much needed nap. (some of us a little longer than others...thanks mom for playing babysitter!)
The night ended with the second performance of our church choir's musical "Then Came Sunday." We've been practicing all week. It turned out really well. I sang and Daddy was a disciple. He mentioned that this marked the first time in our lives that we've been stage together. So it was fun that I got to come home just in time to sing in the musical.
We had a Happy Easter and I hope you did too!

Easter Fun

On Friday, Andrew and I had some fun dying eggs. Well, "I" had fun dying eggs...Andrew just sat and watched! He wasn't too impressed. He kept getting impatient waiting on them to color. He even tried to drink the dye in the cup once. Fun times.
Saturday our church had an Easter egg hunt at the Helems' house. Andrew knew exactly what to do. He found 4 eggs all by himself and put each one in his basket. He was even more excited when he found out that there were "yummies", as he says, in each egg. I took a few pictures of him enjoying the spoils of his hunting.
It was so much fun! I just wish Drew could have been there to enjoy the day with us.
By the way...Take note of how cute he looks in his pale green shirt and brown seer sucker shorts. (Outfit picked out by none other than our live-in fashionista, Aunt Gracie!)

Let it SNOW!

We woke up at 6 am this morning to a beautiful blanket of snow. Ok, so it wasn't the most beautiful blanket...it was more like a really old blanket with lots of holes in it. (We only had a light dusting) Never the less it was SNOW!! Something I haven't seen in a long time and one Andrew had never seen.
Immediately we got all bundled up in multiple layers, which wasn't something Andrew was used to, nor did he like. He got used to it and decided it wasn't so bad. Then we headed out. We started out on the porch just so Andrew could get a feel for the cold. Instinctively, he picked up a handful and threw it into the air.
We then ventured into the yard where Andrew took a few steps of his own. We walked around for a few minutes and even managed to make an 8 inch snowman. Andrew learned a new word "snowball" which he uttered as he launched one at me! He even ate a little snow! (too bad there wasn't enough to make snow cream) I love that stuff.
The snow continued to fall until 10 am but it all melted away by noon. I wish it would have snowed more, but I'm thankful for what we did see. It was beautiful!

Sweet Home Alabama

Andrew and I arrived in Albertville on March 1. Drew is in AZ at a school for 6 weeks, which allows us to visit.
Andrew is having a blast at Granna and Paw-Paw's. He remembered them right away. It was the same with Granny and Grandaddy. As soon as I put him down, he went right to his toy corner.
Andrew got a new toy yesterday; a John Deere tractor, courtesy of his Granna. He found it in the store while I went to the restroom and his Granna couldn't bear to take it away from him. (Anyone wondering why he's rotten?) But he really does love that toy. I think the picture proves it. He pushed it around all day today. He also climbed into his block table and had a little fun.
Today he has been walking a lot more. He toddles from one piece of furnature to the other. He takes 4 or 5 steps at a times. Cute stuff!
And big story of the day.......I chopped my hair! And I love it!!!!
Sea World

Andrew and I just returned from a trip to San Diego/La. Drew had to go there for a swimming qualification exercise, so we decided to make a vacation out of it. We arrived in LA last Thursday and drove down to Sea World. (I LOVE SEA WORLD) It was so much fun. Andrew had a good time too. He got to touch a sting ray, have lunch with Shamu, and see lots of penguins. He loved the penguins so much that we had to buy him a stuffed one. He "loved" it in the gift shop and wouldn't let go. And of course we also had to buy him a stuffed shamu. Every kid needs a stuffed shamu right? However when he says shamu it sounds way too close to "mama"!
We also got to visit with some old friends that used to live in Hawaii, so that was nice. We had dinner at their house and played with the kids.
We had a long drive back to LA and after a long day we were all exhausted. The next day Drew was my hero and let me sleep in! It was like heaven! We went to lunch with a friend of Drew's and then hit the streets to see the sights. Little did we know it would take 2 hours to go 8 miles. So by the time we made it to Hollywood it was almost dark. We just drove through rather quickly. I would like to go back someday when I could take time to see everything.
That night Andrew got to meet Drew's cousins, Carlos and Shelly. We had dinner at Rainforest Cafe to celebrate my b'day. Andrew was the entertainment for the night. He was being such a ham! He really took up with Carlos too. It was a fun night.
Like I said it was a really nice "mini-vacation." On to Alabama...
