Playhouse Disney Live

On Saturday Mom, Annah, and I took Andrew to Birmingham to see Playhouse Disney Live on stage.
He loves all the shows on tv, so we thought he'd enjoy the show.  However, that was NOT the case.  From the moment we got in there, he buried his head and wouldn't even look at the stage.  He started crying "I go back to Granna and Paw-Paw's house."  Annah took him out and let him run around outside until after intermission.
When he came back in we sacrificed $10 for some cotton candy and a crazy hat.  It did the trick!  He sat there and ate his cotton candy while he enjoyed the last half of the show.

I liked it when he wore his cute hat.
Here's a shot of us AFTER the show.  He was happy as could be on the outside!
Even though Andrew wasn't a big fan, we still had fun.  And once he had the cotton candy, he was ok with the show too.

Behind again!

Yet again I find myself behind in my blogging.  (but what's new!)
Please be patient with me as I do have pictures from Playhouse Disney Live and a fun weekend with Annah and Jefforey and our whole business team.  But tonight...I just want SLEEP!

Red!

Ok, I must say I'm a fan of color and can't believe I've waited 28 years to try it!  She did an all over color matched to my natural color and foiled the red highlights on top.  I love it!  My hair is a little shorter than I wanted in the front, but it's ok...I still like it.  I'm not really sure how to fix the bangs, but I think I like them too.  The good thing about those....I can blend them in and look like I did "pre-bangs."
You can really see the red outside.

I Need A New Do!

Ok, so I need a new hair do. No more "run-down Mommy" hair. I hear I need something young, fun, and fresh. Also, it has come to my attention that my gray streak is not cool! So, I've been contemplating "color." Just so you know....I've NEVER colored my hair. No home kits, no highlights...NOTHING. But I'm feeling brave. I want to keep my dark color, but maybe spice it up a little. I have an appointment at 10am tomorrow. I could use your help. I've been looking through some magazines and here are some cuts I like.
#1 - I like the red highlights. I might do something like that. This cut is similar to the one I had last year. I want it a tad longer though.

#2- This one is fun. Ideally, I want a #1 cut that I could also do this with. A girl needs options ;)
#3- Ok, OBVIOUSLY I'm not going blonde, so just look at the cut :) I want to get bangs, but that scares me to death.Ok, I realize that by the time some of you read this, I'll already have a new do, but hopefully some of you will see it before. All input is greatly appreciated! Tell me your choices in the comments section. I'll post pictures tomorrow of my new do.

Karaoke and Bowling...Does It Get Any Better?

So it has been a LONG time since I have really gotten out of the house to do anything fun.  Drew and I have been on 3....count them t-h-r-e-e dates since Andrew was born.  1) The Marine Corps Ball 2) Movie Date when my parents came to Hawaii. 3) Double date with Annah and Jefforey to the drive in over Christmas.  And that's IT......so needless to say...."I don't get out much."

Until this week....

Amy and I decided that it was high time to go do something.  We had a Karaoke itch, so on Thursday night we called around and finally found ONE place in 2 counties that had karaoke on a Thursday night.  So we ended up at a place called Lawler's Bistro.  Granted we didn't get to leave the house until Andrew went to bed (at midnight), but hey...we got out!  We had a BLAST.  We sang a few songs and were even getting requests from the 6 other people that were there.  LOL

Karaoke was over at 1, so our night was a short one.  Lucky for us, they did Karaoke on Saturday nights too.  So we immediately made plans and called some of the cousins and lucky for me, Andrew fell asleep at 8:45 on Saturday night!  It was on!

The ladies:  Laura (Drew's cousin), Myself, Amy (Alex's wife), and cousin Artie

I couldn't resist taking a picture with the weirdo wearing a "I *heart* hot moms" t-shirt.

I left the stage to take a shot of the whole gang singing "Friends In Low Places."   Drew's brother Adam is the super star rocking out!
We had so much fun Saturday night that we couldn't resist going bowling on Sunday night.  My brother-in-law Alex (Amy's husband) was able to come into town, so he went with us.
Amy and I pause for a photo op.

Here's a shot of my mad bowling skills ....NOT
Adam was our resident pro for the night.  He whipped us all, but he did have a devastating moment...the gutter ball!  Alex had to revive him.

Could this be Adam dealing with the devastation?  LOL

Amy and Alex saved a little room for a dance.
We had so much fun!  (Probably because we had the whole bowling alley to ourselves.)   Thanks again guys for getting me out of the house.  I really enjoyed our week together!  I miss you already!

Fun Times With Family

This week in Mississippi has been full of fun opportunities to spend with family.  Andrew has really enjoyed himself.  (So has Mommy...see the next post)  Here are Andrew and my nephew, Alex taking a break from the bouncy house with their cool juice cups.
On Saturday the Ladner side of the family got together at Grandma's house for Gumbo.  Drew's aunt Monica from Arizona was in town.  Andrew had so much fun playing outside on the playground.
Andrew spinning with Aden and Breeley.  The loved this thing!
Riding the monster tricycle with Grandad.
After church on Sunday, we had a quick birthday party for Granddad that consisted of singing "Happy Birthday" and blowing out the candles on the German chocolate cake that I made him.  Granddad had some help from Alex.

Andrew liked the yummy icing.
Shortly after singing to Granddad, we went over to Drew's Uncle Kevin's house to celebrate the birthdays of 3 of their children:  Leigh 21, Wes 16, and Christian 1.   We got to see most of the Haas side of the family.  After eating 3/4 of a HUGE bowl of Gumbo, Andrew spend most of the rest of the afternoon playing in the gigantic pile of sand!

He did take a break to play with Christian's golf set.

For the most part.....we just ate, and ate, and ate!  The food was delicious.  Here are Amy (my sister-in-law) and Nana (Drew's Aunt) eating crawfish.

Other activities of the day included: baseball, Simon says, four wheeler rides, and a skype call from Drew!  I took my computer to the party in hopes that we would catch Drew online and we did.  So he got to see all of his family.

Fishin' With Granddad

We're in Mississippi for the week visiting Drew's parents, Grammy and Granddad.  Today Andrew got to go fishing for the first time.  Granddad made some good 'ole fashioned cane poles.
They even dug up some worms.
Granddad caught a nice catfish.  He wins the "catch of the day" award.
Andrew and Alex had to check it out.  (We're hoping to add to the count and have fish for lunch)
I even caught a little brim.
Amy thought she'd give this whole fishing thing a try and seconds after I threw my fish back in, she caught this lil one!  Way to go Mamie!
After that we didn't catch anything.  Guess we'll have to try again this afternoon!

Easter Tree

Growing up we always had a tradition at Easter.  We would decorate a tree (outside) with plastic eggs and call it our Easter Tree.  Well this year, Granna and Paw-Paw let Andrew do the decorating.

Cookie Monster Shoes

When we first got to Albertville it was FREEZING outside!  The hardwood floor in my parents' house is super cold and Andrew was running around with cold feet.  (Keep in mind my lil Menehune HATES to wear shoes or socks)  While at K-Mart one day we found some cookie monster house shoes.  Wouldn't ya know it...they were out of Elmo, which of course is what Andrew wanted.  There was ONE left.  Not a pair, but ONE shoe.  So we bought the cookie monster ones.  He absolutely refused to wear them for about 3 weeks.  The other night he decided they were pretty fun.

He really liked them once I taught him how to run and slide in them.

Mr. Studious And His -isms

Andrew HATES for Granna to wear glasses....even if they are just her reading glasses.  The other night we were all playing on Granna's bed when all of a sudden, Andrew took her glasses off and put them on himself.  Doesn't he look so intelligent?
They're a little big!  He's got that whole school teacher thing going on.
Since there's not much "meat" to this post, I'll share some recent Andrewisms.

While watching Dancing With The Stars, Andrew likes to dance with either Granna or myself.  After finishing a quickstep with Granna he sat down on the ottoman, wiped his brow, and said "Whew!  That was a tough one!"

One day I was signing onto skype to see if Drew was around for a video chat.  I said "Andrew, let's see if Daddy is on the computer. "  His response: "No, Mama.  Daddy's not on the computer...he's in Iraq."

After playing pretty hard outside and riding on the 4 wheeler through the pasture with Paw Paw, he comes in the house and announces, "I'm filthy as a hog!"

He is SO FUNNY!  He comes up with stuff all the time.  I wish I could catch every single moment on camera so I'd never forget!

Lovin' Aunt Gracie

Annah came home the other night for a quick visit.  Andrew was so excited to see her.  He immediately ran up to her, grabbed her head, and gave her a BIG kiss!  (You can see by Annah's expression that this took her by surprise)
Then is was playtime!  Nothing like a game of tickle monster right before bed.
After that it was time for Andrew to be a ham!
And Aunt Gracie too!

He loves his Aunt Gracie!

Busted!

The other day, I went into my Mom's bedroom to print something off of her computer.  Andrew was in the living room watching Caillou.  After my document printed, this is what I returned to find...
While I was in the other room Andrew found the candy bag on the kitchen table and helped himself to 7...(that's right...SEVEN)  Hershey's Kisses!  The boy loves his chocolate....Hmmm...wonder where he gets that?  ;)

Happy Birthday To Me!

My Birthday truly started at mid-night.  Andrew decided to wake up from what turned into a nap at 11:30 pm.  He didn't go back to sleep until 5:45am.  I guess he just wanted to ring in my birthday!  When he finally went back to bed, it started snowing.  Then my adrenaline kicked in.  I was excited because for the first time in my life it snowed ON MY BIRTHDAY!  What a great present.  I took this picture at 6:15 am when it started snowing pretty hard.    By this point I thought it would be best just to stay awake since I had to get up for church in a couple of hours. I could make it and then take a LONG nap later in the afternoon.    WRONG!  At 7:30, I crashed!
When I woke up at 11:30 am....the snow was already melting!  So I missed it!  I slept through the snow!
Since church was cancelled due to snow, we headed straight over to Granny and Grandaddy's for my traditional birthday lunch.  Erin and Maggie joined us.  Andrew and Maggie had the best time playing together.  (even thought it looks like he's trying to swat the ball away from her)
Andrew paused for a moment to take a picture with Mommy.
Then it was time to blow out the candles.  Andrew helped!  I can't tell you how many times we re-lit that candle so he could blow it out!  He never gets tired of that!
Andrew really enjoyed the cupcakes.
I had a pretty good birthday!  I went to bed early that night seeing as how I didn't get much sleep the night before!

The next day, a present came for me in the mail!  My sweet husband had a sparkly surprise sent to me from Zales.  (I love getting little black boxes!)  Inside I found this beautiful Tanzanite necklace.  Ooh La La!....I didn't know I had that many freckles!
Here's a picture (for Drew) of me wearing the gift! Love you honey!!
So, I'm 28!  Personally it feels better than 27....but only because I have this thing about odd numbers.  (That's my OCD kicking in)  Only 2 more years until I'm officially old.   :)
