Maggie's Actual Birthday

Today was Maggie's actual birthday and I had a few other things to give her, so Mom, Andrew, and I dropped by their house that evening.  Here's Little Prissy before opening her present.
In case there is any question as to where I get my pet name for her....here's why???
She was all about smiling for me!
Maggie with her new tea set!  I can't wait to have a tea party with her.
Mom took a group shot before we left!
Happy 1st Birthday Maggie!  I hope you enjoyed it!!  We love you!

Maggie's Party

Andrew and I made it home just in time for Maggie Ogle's first birthday party. (Maggie is the daughter of my best friend, Erin) Even though we got there a little late due to the jet lag, we didn't miss out on all the fun. The party had a lady bug theme. Everything looked so good. Maggie even had on a lady bug shirt.
When we arrived Miss Maggie was already opening presents and having a good time doing so.
She loved this duck.
But everything came to a halt when Spongebob came on TV. She stopped dead in her tracks, looked at the television, and started dancing to the theme song. It was really cute!
(I wonder where she got her moves?)After presents, it was time for cake! Maggie had her very own #1 smash cake and everyone else had individually decorated lady bug cupcakes. They were adorable. Blowing out the candles with a little help from Mommy.
Maggie had no problems diving right into her cake. She liked the icing. Yummmm!
What a mess!
And that was about all the fun she could handle. I hear there were naps all around that afternoon!

One If By Land, Two If By Sea

Andrew and I have both been a little anxious lately due to the fact that our military flight has been delayed 5 different times. We were beginning to go a little stir crazy at the house, so yesterday we went to the Waikiki Aquarium and today we went to the Honolulu Zoo. (Both are right across the street from each other) We have both been to the zoo before, but this was Andrew's first trip to the aquarium. He has a new Curious George book "Curious George Goes to the Aquarium" so he was really excited to get to go somewhere that George went. From the moment we walked in he was mesmerized!

After looking at the fish, he sat for a while and watched the sharks and larger fish. He said "Look Mama, a BIG one!"We saw lots of cool things, like this eel. This one is for you, Drew! After the aquarium, we chased some birds around the park and even had time to walk down to Waikiki beach to watch Andrew throw a few rocks into the water. He had so much fun that he passed out as soon as we got in the car. He had a really good nap too, considering it took us 1 hour and 55 minutes to go 29 miles. Traffic was HORRENDOUS!He was still tired when we got home. After dinner Drew called on Skype, just in time for bath time. We took the computer upstairs so Drew got to watch. After his bath he said "Mama, I go sleep right now!" We didn't even read books. We said our prayers and he went right to sleep!

TODAY...we went to the zoo. I love the zoo! So does Andrew. He looked so big wearing his backpack.
My favorite exhibit today was the Tigers. They had 3 baby cubs that were so fun to watch. They were practicing their pouncing skills and we even got to see them play in the water.
After the Tigers, we headed into the Keiki zoo. It's basically a petting zoo. They have a fish tank/aquarium with a tunnel for the kids to climb through and look at magnified fish. Next we moved on to the pigs. Andrew got to pet one.And he was really excited about it...Next, it was time for the goat house. After giving our hands a good scrub, we decided to head over to the cafe for some lunch, where I must tell you the birds are out of control. I was eating a sandwich and a little brown bird flew by and tried to take it from me...more than once! After that things got even crazier. Here is a naughty pigeon eating a fry right off of my plate! Here's a pretty view of Diamond Head from inside the zoo.

Andrew was fascinated by this elephant statue. It was another fun, yet exhausting day. Andrew went right to sleep again tonight. I really enjoy hanging out with my 'Lil man. I love not having to be anywhere at a specific time, so we could just "have fun." No schedules to keep, no need to rush. It was great!

"Where My Daddy Go?"

Last night I tucked Andrew in with all his favorite animals: Puppy, Crocodile, Henry, and Tiger with Daddy Doll on the bedpost watching over him.   I kissed him goodnight and said our "I love yous" and went down stairs to do the dishes.  It had been about 15 minutes and I hadn't heard a peep out of him.  Then I heard a quiet voice through the baby monitor, "Where my Daddy go?"  I walked upstairs and he repeated himself.  I asked if he wanted to snuggle with his Daddy Doll.  He said yes, so I handed it to him.  Later I went upstairs to sneak a peek and this is what I saw...

Guest Room Accents

Seeing as how we do live in Hawaii, I'm trying to put together a nice "beachy" guest room.   We found the perfect wall color, found some sheets to match, and bought a white comforter to keep the room clean and crisp.  But it was all too sterile for me.  Several weeks ago I found a shell pillow at our Navy Exchange.  I bought it.  I liked it!  It added a little something to the room.  Well Andrew and I were shopping the other day (at the Navy Exchange) and they had the whole bedding set an "additional 50% off."  So I just had to buy the quilt, 2 shams, and the dust ruffle.  I got all of that for $30 cheaper than the original price of the quilt!  When I got home, I put everything on the bed, with the exception of the dust ruffle.  I didn't feel like stripping the bed and lifting the mattress to put it on.  I really like it.  It makes the room feel more "comfortable."  Now, if I could just get some furniture I might get some where!  I have lots of sea glass that I've collected over time.  It was my inspiration.  I have the perfect lamp in mind and a few wall prints to buy.  I can't wait to put it all together.  But here's what we've got so far...

As Happy as can be Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day isn't very happy when your hubby is half way around the world.  However, he is very thoughtful and he stashed some cards for us around the house before he left, so we got to open those.  He was also nice enough to send me 2 dozen pink roses, but due to travel upsets (thank you Air Force), my Mom is getting to enjoy their beauty.  She did send me a picture of them and they are beautiful.  We're trying to make a military flight home, but they keep getting cancelled.

Andrew and I had a good day.  We played all morning and in the afternoon we ran a few errands which ended with us enjoying ice cream cones!  He and I had a lot of fun!

I didn't get to talk to Drew yesterday, but the past 3 days we've been able to connect on skype. Since he's on the night shift, the Internet connection is pretty good.  We talked for over an hour one night.  It's nice to see his face...even if it is on a computer screen.  He says hello!

Andrew really isn't interested in talking much, so I just set up the camera so Drew can watch him play!  He enjoys that.  We're lucky that we have such valuable resources in technology.  I don't think I could have handled not hearing from him for months or even years at a time, like back in the day.  We've come a long way!  Here's one last picture of that face that I miss so much!

Mackenzie turns 2

Tuesday was Andrew's friend, Mackenzie's birthday. We took her present to her at her house because we were unable to make it to the birthday party. He wanted to carry it over himself.
Mackenzie (and Ripley) were very happy to see us.
They had more fun playing with the paper than anything!

Mackenzie is really excited about her book!

We even had time for a quick tea party with her new toy before we had to go.

Alphabet Game: The Letter "F"

Today's post is a little different.  I got started from my friend Lisa. So if you're looking for some Fun..here ya go!

It's the alphabet game, blogging version. Here are the rules: If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain will continue.

The letter "F".  Hmm....let me see.

I love....

1) Father...I've always been and always will be a "Daddy's Girl."  He is a shining example of God's love and I have learned so much from him.  Some of those lessons are coming in handy now that I have a child of my own! (And yes, Daddy...now I know how much you love me!) ~Mom, I love you too :)

2) Faith...This word is representative of my relationship with the Lord.  Since Drew has been gone, God and I have been spending extra time together.  I have found so much comfort in the Word lately!

3) Family...When Drew and I got married, we became a family, but now that we have Andrew we're REALLY a family!  I love my little boy! And I love being a Mommy!

4) Friends... I am truly blessed with the best of friends.  I love the relationships with my friends from home.  I think the distance has only strengthened our relationship.  And the friends I have in Hawaii...God put each of you in my life and I am forever grateful.  You have made living 5,000 miles away from family much easier.

5) Food...can I get an Amen!  I love to eat and I love to cook.   Whether it's fresh vegetables from the garden, or fresh baked cookies from my oven, I love it all.

6) Foxtrot, waltz, swing, ballet....any form of dance.  I love to watch it as well as participate.  I don't dance much anymore, unless you count dancing in the living room with Andrew.

7) Forensic science...as in CSI, CSI:Miami, and CSI:NY.  Oh, how I love to solve the mysteries! I'm somewhat addicted!

Speaking of addicted..

8) Facebook...I confess.  I love facebook.  I've been a member for 2 years now.  I was addicted in the beginning (during the first Iraq deployment) and once Drew came home I slacked off.  Now, he's gone again and I'm back in the swing of it.  I guess there's just something about being connected with old friends, and current ones.  I love getting a friend request from someone you haven't seen in 10 years!

9) Fun...I love to have fun and for me that means either game night or Karaoke!  Neither of which I get to do as often as I'd like, so that makes them even MORE fun!

10) Finishing tasks....like this game.  I had trouble thinking of 10.  I think I get focused on the letter "F" and can't think of things.  I like to finish other tasks too, b/c my personality type has been known to come up with great ideas, but has trouble finishing them! (annah..that's for you)

So, that's my list of Favorite "F" things!  if you wanna play, let me know!

Nighty Night!

There's nothing more precious than a sleeping baby....or a sleeping 2 year old!

Bedtime has gotten a lot better at our house. (FINALLY) Andrew now goes to bed all by himself and doesn't wake up in the middle of the night. Andrew was a rocker and so I'd rock him every night, but now that he's a big boy, he goes to bed in his room.

After bath time we climb up in his bed and read a few books, say our night night prayers, and I kiss him good night and leave! I have a new found freedom at bedtime!

However, sometimes he doesn't want to go to sleep as quickly as he should. He already knows all the tricks to delaying bedtime. He asks for milk, he asks to go potty (3 times within 2 minutes), asks for me to hand him his lovey that he just threw on the floor. But the other night I heard a new one. After I had taken him to potty for the second time and tucked him BACK in, he says, "Mama, I need chap stick!" So I had to go to my room, get the chap stick, and watch as Andrew applied it to himself as well as Henry, Puppy, and Crocodile. He's so funny! That satisfied him and he went to sleep.

Last night before saying our prayers I asked him what he was thankful for. He places an index finger over his mouth and says "Hmmmm.....CANDY!" Out of the mouth of babes!

Welcome Brady James/Fire in Waianae

Heather, the girl from the surprise shower post, had her baby Saturday night. She had a beautiful baby boy named Brady James Weaver at 9:23 p.m. He weighs 7lb 14oz and is 21 inches long. He is just adorable! Kim and I drove over after church on Sunday to meet him.

I only took these 2 pictures because the sound of my camera scared him to death! I couldn't bear to torture this lil cutie any more.Later that night, when I was getting ready for bed, I took Chiquita out one last time and noticed a funny light off in the distance. I went upstairs to get a better look from our balcony and I noticed it was a FIRE!I'm not sure exactly what it was. I know there are a lot of chicken houses and farm buildings over there, but the blazes were out of control. I could hear the crackling from my house!I didn't know whether or not I should call 911. I thought SURELY someone closer had already called, but I didn't hear sirens. I debated for about 5 minutes and then I finally heard them. Help was on the way.

Finally 30 minutes later, I saw the flashing lights. They had made it. I didn't hear anything on the news or read anything in the paper. I just hope everyone was alright.

Day At The Park

Andrew and I had an appointment to get out annual safety inspection done on the car.  There's a nice park next to the dealership, so I thought we'd take advantage of a beautiful day and have a picnic lunch.  After we ate, Andrew had a good a time playing on the playground.

He did manage to get his leg unstuck!
Whee!
After the playground, he took off running after the birds.  Then he managed to slow down long enough for me to snap a few pictures under this nice shade tree.
This one is my favorite! (even though he has a sweaty, red face!)
For some reason he wanted to lose the shoes!
We had a fun day!  Good thing there was a park next door because the 15 minute safety inspection ended up taking 3 HOURS!  But, we had a good time!

Surprise Tea for Heather

In combination with our monthly coffee, we decided to surprise Heather, who is due any day now, with a baby shower.  This is her surprised face...
Kristina made an adorable diaper cake!
Here are a few of her opening presents.  I love the look on her face.  Isn't she just glowing!

Hope you had fun Heather!  We can't wait to meet you little boy.  (Especially so we can find out his name)
