Yesterday Aubrey and I woke up and got ready to go to my hair appointment. (That ended up getting rescheduled, but that's not the point.) I put her in a cute outfit. The onesie was a "newborn" size and when I put it on her, I thought to myself, "This will be the last time you wear this one," as it was a little tight going over her head. Since my hair appointment was cancelled, we went back to sleep. Hooray for nap time! I did need to go to the store, but I figured I could do that after I picked Andrew up from school. So, nap time over...time to get in the car to go get brother. Aubrey started screaming after 5 minutes in the car line. I figured it was just because we were stopped. She likes to move. When we got Andrew, she was still screaming like a banshee and I decided I did NOT want to attempt a trip to the grocery store. Alas, we went home. When I pulled her out of the car seat, I felt wetness. (oh no) I looked and I saw orange! (Great...a blowout! Is it on the car seat? Of course!) And if you're a Mom you know just how difficult it is to take those blasted car seat covers off. It's like an act of congress to get it all back together. I digress...back to the blowout at hand....
Andrew was cracking up. He followed me through the house and "helped" me clean her up. I unsnapped the onesie to see what it had in store for me. And YUK! What a mess! Remember earlier when I told you that this would be the last time the princess wore this one? I was trying to figure out how to get it off of her without pulling the poop over her head. I tried pulling it down over her shoulders. I managed to get one arm out, but it was just too tight. She's screaming her head off because 1) She hates to be messed with 2) she doesn't like to change clothes and 3) My finagling had her in somewhat of a straight jacket. Andrew looked up at me and said, "Mama, how are we gonna get it off of her?
"Andrew", I said, "Go get Mommy the scissors!"
That's right folks. I cut that sucker off of her and thew it away! Problem solved! It was way better that getting poop all up her back and in her hair.
Then I get a text from Drew:
"Hey, let me know when you get home and I'll meet you there." (He needed my car to pick up some stuff at Lowes.)
Me: I'm home.
Drew: You didn't go to the store?
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words:
That was yesterday...today when we went to pick Andrew up, Aubrey started screaming AGAIN! I mean, literally spitting mad with that vibrato cry. We got to car line a little early so I had some time to calm her down. I got out of the driver's seat and walked back to her seat. I was just going to get her out and calm her down. When I picked her up....BLOWOUT....AGAIN! Seriously?! And it was way bigger than the day before. (At least that explained the crying.) So I grabbed the diaper bag and walked to the other side of the car to clean her up. The lady in the car behind me was smiling and shaking her head. I could tell...she had been there done that. I had to very quickly get her all cleaned up and strapped back in before the car line started moving. As soon as I got back in my seat, we were moving. Whew....just in time. FYI: I think it's time to go up a size in diapers!
