Day 19-22: Grand Teton

We drove south to Tetonia, ID where we stayed at Teton Peaks Lodge and Rv Resort.   This was a small RV park, but with great service.  Jason and his wife run the place and they were very friendly and accommodating.  We even had our own personal fireworks show on the 4th!

On the 4th we went into the park.  

 Grand Teton is a lot smaller than Yellowstone, but it's beautiful!  The snow capped mountains were a great backdrop to all the lakes, rivers, and streams.

 When we got back from the quick drive in the park, one of Drew's oldest friends, LJ and his wife Jennifer joined us at the campground.  They were on an Anniversary trip and were able to meet up with us for the night.  We grilled out, watched the fireworks, and enjoyed talking until the wee hours of the morning.  After breakfast, we went back into the park for a little hiking and kayaking.  LJ and Jen had an inflatable 2 person kayak and were kind enough to let the kids take it out for a stroll.  We put in at String Lake (between Jenny Lake and Leigh Lake).

 We found a nice spot in the shade to set up our "day" camp.

 Andrew had been wanting to go kayaking since we were at Glacier.  So he was pretty excited.

 I mean...just LOOK at that view! Gorgeous!

 Aubrey sat in the shade with Jen while she waited for her turn. 

 She was a little hesitant, but had a blast! (yes, there were lifejackets...and the water was only 2 feet deep where they were.)

 After our kayak adventures, we parted ways with LJ and Jen.  We were going to take the short hike to Leigh Lake.  As soon as we got on the trail, we met a family moving rather quickly.  They said, "Turn around...BEAR! He just crossed the trail about 50 feet behind us. Get your bear spray out!"  (we didn't have bear spray).  For a split second, I got a little uneasy, but we really wanted to see a bear.  The couple behind us had bear spray so we made our way to the lake with very diligent eyes.  We never saw anything.  But when we got to the lake some kids paddled over in their kayak saying, "Mom, we saw a bear!"  We just barely missed it!  They said he swam across the lake and went to the other side.  That would've been really neat to see.

After that, we had lunch at one of the restaurants at the lodge, enjoyed some more scenery (the photos of which are on Drew's camera), and then headed back to the campground by way of Jackson, WY.

 The town is adorable!  It would be fun to stay in town at one of the hotels/lodges one day.  (Maybe on our next trip.). Drew and I had to take our picture in front of the famous "elk arches." There are 4 arches, one on each corner of the town square.

Maybe one of these days, I'll get around to uploading all the rest of the pictures (maybe), but for now you'll just have to enjoy the ones I did get around to posting.
