Drew graduated from CGSC this morning and by 2 pm, we were off on our great adventure. #Allthethings are finally over and we can breathe a sigh of relief and just enjoy life for the next month with minimal worries or cares! (I CAN’T WAIT)
We made it into Dodge City, KS around 8 pm. We were all hungry and didn’t want to deal with cooking, so we stopped at a local joint, Casey’s Cowtown! Seeing as how Dodge is known for it’s cattle, we ate steak. Yum! Chargrilled goodness. The restaurant was very charming with a plethora of cowboy artwork, complete with a denim buffalo! We met the owner, Mike Casey, when he stopped by our table to talk to the baby. Super nice guy. He told us about the place and gave us some good tips for our trip tomorrow.
From Casey’s we drove 5 more minutes to the Fort Dodge RV Resort. No one was in the office, so we picked a spot to park and settled in for the night. Now this part is for the campers that might be reading: This place was very nice. It’s a little space carved out of the city park and looks to be fairly new. There are plenty of pull through spots with concrete pads long enough to put TWO RV’s! PLENTY of space. Spaces are full hook up, complete with picnic table and fire ring. The following are adjacent to the RV park: City Park Zoo (I could see the Buffalo from our campsite), Dog Park, soccer fields, and Long Branch Lagoon water park. I’ts also a 5 minute walk to the Dodge City Visitor’s Center and Boot Hill Museum.
Tomorrow, we're going to check out historic Dodge City and walk the same streets as Doc Holiday and Waytt Earp!
