Disneyland (Magic Kingdom)
We're here!
Andrew and Granddad map out our day.
First things first...we've gotta eat. Our day started with a character breakfast at the Plaza Inn just off of Main Street U.S.A. My first photo op was with Eeyore.
As we've mentioned before Andrew has never been very fond of our furry friends, and you can see here that he's still not too sure.
But as the meal went on, he loosened up and was ok as long as they kept their distance!
I don't think I had ever seen Rafiki out and about before. I love that baboon!
Then our hostess, Minne Mouse came and spent some quality time at our table. I think we ALL had our picture made with her. Here she is with Drew.
...and Grammy
...and the Attwood boys...
...and the Ladners...minus one non compliant Andrew...
Minnie was a little sad that Andrew didn't want to have his picture made with her, so she motioned for his map and began to write a note.
Andrew wondering what she's doing..
Minnie handed the note to Andrew and he took it! This made Minnie very happy. It was the first real interaction he has ever had with a character. His special note read: "It's ok to be shy. I'm shy too! Minnie Mouse" He was so proud of it!
In the meantime, Kristina has her picture with Minnie too.
Minnie lovin' on Granddad.
By the end of the breakfast, Andrew was enjoying himself. Here he's actually smiling with the fairy godmother.
He EVEN gave Captain Hook a high five! (Now THAT'S progress)
After breakfast we walked through the castle and headed toward fantasy land. Drew warned me that this castle is nowhere near as large or as beautiful as Cinderella's castle in Disney World. He was right!
We rode the carousel first. Here are the Attwoods enjoying their ride.
Andrew is all smiles as he rides with Grammy and Granddad.
Whee!
Next it was on to Dumbo. This is Andrew's favorite movie so we knew the ride would be a big hit. Watch the progression of the adult smiles here.
Andrew is having a BLAST!
By the third time around, Drew and I give a courtesy wave.
Kristina, Wyatt, and Kelly on Dumbo.
Andrew wanted to ride again, so this time he rode with Grammy and gave us a big smile before the ride!
The first of our 'indoor' rides was Pinocchio. Andrew did NOT like this ride. It was dark in there and there were a couple of "almost scary" parts with the big whale and such. Grammy had to cover his eyes for the whole ride. Poor guy. They Attwoods had fun though! Wyatt got a little upset too, but only when the ride was over! He hated to see the fun stop!
And what's a trip to Disney without some teacups?
Round and round we go!
Next we headed to toon town for some fun. The Attwoods on Roger Rabbit's toon cars. You can hardly see Wyatt!
Drew and Kelly...big strong men.
Kristina and I trying to be strong! (or silly)
While in toon town we made a very important stop...Mickey's House! Andrew was all excited saying how he wanted to go meet Mickey at his house. But when we got there he was less than enthused. However, we did manage to get a smile out of him. We're all looking at the PhotoPass guy in this shot, but it's the only one with a smile.
Wyatt with Mommy and Mickey
Sweet hugs for Grammy as we wait for the train.
After our train tour of the park, we headed to critter country and rode winnie the pooh. When we came off the ride, Pooh and Rabbit were standing around so we had to get a picture, per Andrew's request, but yet again when we made it up there, he changed his mind.
Right after the picture with Pooh, I put him in his stroller and this sleepy baby took a 2 1/2 hour nap. He slept right through lunch in our cool, dark restaurant. We got his food to go and went on about our day. And apparently I didn't take any more pictures after this. We rode lots more rides followed by the Fantasmic show and fireworks. It was a really fun day and we all went home POOPED! Time to hit they sack and do it all over again tomorrow at California Adventure!
