Sunday Drive

Sunday started out GREAT! We had a nice day at church and a nice relaxing day at Kailua Beach. We swam and built sand castles and had an amazing time. (with one small snag of Kellye losing her bikini top. She bent over and it BROKE! No worries...I tied her up) We started packing up at 4:30 so we could be home in time to cook dinner. Our plans were to have homemade chicken Alfredo, but those plans came to a screeching halt when we hit traffic 8 miles from our house. If you're familiar with where we live, the traffic started at the water park. The clock said 6:01 when we stopped. I have never been stuck in traffic like this in Hawaii before. If I had walked home, I would've made it faster! We had a few factors that were making our trip even LONGER.... 1) We were STARVING and 2) We were quickly running out of GAS!! (with nowhere to stop)
But it wasn't all bad. We did get to witness a stunning sunset.

But that's about all the "good" that we had on our journey. We were going a little crazy in the car.
And at times got a little tired of the traffic...But mostly, we laughed. Because what else can you do in a situation like that? (Oh, and we had a little dance party too)
I mean, I don't think you realize just how slowly we were moving. At one point, when our gas gauge said this...
it took us 23 minutes to go .68 miles. That's POINT SIX MILES! We finally made it through the jam and rolled into the Mahalo (gas station for you mainlanders) with 2 miles til empty. By this time it's 8:30 and the thought of having to prepare food was killing us, so we stopped at little caesar's. Luckily for Andrew we had some popcorn in the beach bag, so he finished that off. He was such a trooper.

So to recap: It took us 3 1/2 hours to get home from Kailua Beach! OUCH
